As President of the American Zionist Movement, my wife, Phyllis, and I, at the invitation of Malcolm Hoenlein, participated in the February 2018 Conference of Presidents Leadership Mission to the United Arab Emirates. It was informative, instructive and enlightening, particularly with regard to their openness toward religious tolerance, mutual understanding and common commitment to standing against terror. Each of our meetings were respectful and forward-looking. Today’s announcement by President Trump, Prime Minister Netanyahu and Crown Prince bin Zayed is not only historic – it provides a true basis for establishing a better day for Israel and her Arab neighbors. Peace has long been a dream. Today moves it toward reality. We applaud each leader who played an important role in this development.
